Bladder Control/Leakage

TVT Sling-Surgical Treatment for Urine Leakage

The involuntary loss of urine can cause deterioration in your quality of life. If sneezing, coughing and laughing cause you to leak urine and causes you public embarrassment, there IS something that can be done to eliminate this problem!

The TVT Sling is a one time, outpatient procedure that takes about 15 minutes to perform and offers a solution to this problem. The amount of time in the hospital is usually about 4 hours. 85% of women in clinical trials remain completely dry and 11% of women have significant improvement. Dr. Benson is a provider of this procedure as well as other urinary incontinence procedures.

Decreased Sex Drive

A woman’s sexual desires naturally fluctuate over the years. Highs and lows commonly coincide with the beginning or end of a relationship or with major life changes, such as pregnancy, menopause or illness. However, if you are bothered by a low sex drive or decreased sex drive, you should talk to your doctor.

So, what exactly is low sex drive in women? In medical terms, you have hypoactive sexual desire disorder if you have a persistent or recurrent lack of interest in sex that causes you personal distress. But you don’t have to meet this medical definition to seek help. If you aren’t as interested in sex as you’d like to be, talk to your doctor.

Once you bring up your concerns about low sex drive, your doctor will probably look for a physical cause of the problem, such as a prescription or over-the-counter medication you’re taking. Undiagnosed medical conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure can also reduce your libido. During a pelvic exam, your doctor can check for signs of physical changes contributing to low sexual desire, such as thinning of your genital tissues, vaginal dryness or pain-triggering spots. He or she may also recommend additional screening tests, thyroid studies and questionnaires to help pinpoint your level of desire and find a reason for low desire.

Hysterectomy

If you are a candidate for a hysterectomy and you don’t want to spend several days in the hospital, miss 4-6 weeks of work and suffer with pain after surgery, you may want to consider this new surgical procedure.

The LSH is a laparoscopic hysterectomy performed entirely through the belly button. There is no large abdominal incision; this procedure reduces pain, amount of time in surgery (procedure time is approximately 1 hour) and length of stay in the hospital. Most people are home within 24 hours and back to work or their normal schedule within 7 days. This procedure can also preserve the cervix, tubes and ovaries. It only removes the part of the uterus that hurts and bleeds.

In the Brazos Valley area, Dr. Benson has the most experience performing this procedure.

Outcomes and recovery may vary. Not every patient is a candidate for this procedure.

Painful Sexual Intercourse

Uterine Uplift

Pelvic pain is not normal, and you do not have to live with it. The uterine uplift procedure is a quick (usually 15 minutes) procedure that corrects a tipped, tilted or retroverted uterus. An exam by Doctor

Benson can quickly determine if this is the cause of your pain. Women with a tipped uterus may experience pain during intercourse, painful periods, infertility and chronic pelvic pain.

This procedure involves shortening and strengthening uterine ligaments to adjust the uterus into a neutral position. This is a laparoscopic procedure with no incision larger than 1/4 inch.

Your length of stay in the hospital is usually about 4 hours. You are able to resume normal activities in about one week.
